This year the SCA has decided to sponsor an event to collect gently used prom dresses and sell them to students who will be attending prom this year. The prices of the dresses will be determined by length, ten dollars for short dresses and fifteen dollars for long dresses. The Dresses will be available to purchase during lunch and after school. All the proceeds from selling the dresses will be sent to either The Thurman Brisban Homeless Shelter or the Hope House. Collections will be held from March 29th through April 16th. Everyone who donates a dress will be put into a drawing for two free prom and after-prom tickets.

The marketing classes are working with the SCA on this project. They are in charge of the advertising for the event. They are making flyers to help publicize the dress collecting and the sale that will come later on.

Mrs. Coffman has high hopes for the event. She has already heard from teachers and some of her students that they are planning on giving dresses for the sale. She is planning, if all goes well this year, to include suits for the guys next year. Mrs. Coffman stated, “I think this is really good idea, especially because of how the economy is right now.”

If you are interested in giving a dress your can drop it off in Mrs. Coffman’s room which is room 151, or you can go to Mr. Parrish’s room which is number 123. Be sure to have the dress dry-cleaned and have the size marked before you get there.
