The Script is a new up-and-coming band that originated from Dublin, Ireland. The bands’ music just recently broke into the United States with their album, self titled “The Script”, which was released in March of 2009.
The band consists of three members: Danny O’Donoghue the lead singer, Mark Sheehan the guitarist, and Glen Power as the drummer.
Danny and Mark met as teens, and as they collaborated with other artists they met their third member, Glen. The trio began working together, and it was instant chemistry. The three have gone through a lot together, and their bond shows in how well their musical talents blend.
The bands’ first single, “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” was first seen on VH1 in November 2009 on their You-Oughta-Know segment of Top 20 Countdown. This song is all about unrequited love and hope – a guy is pining for the girl who left him and hoping that she will one day come back to find him if he stays in the place where they first saw each other.
Their sound is spectacular – it’s sultry and has so much emotion you can tell they believe in what they are singing about. They are a fresh group that hasn’t been affected by the music our country has been so stuck on: the meaningless, boring, assembly-line songs that keep being released. All the songs on their album are heartfelt and each one could be said to be better than the last. Listening to their CD over and over would never be tiring.
I’ve loved listening to The Script, no matter what the occasion is. They add just what I need whether I’m in the mood to have something upbeat to sing along to or something mellow while I’m trying to relax. The Script has got all the right lines for me.
