Most people think that Lauren Conrad, star of MTV’s reality show The Hills, can’t read, much less write a book. But this smart star has proved those people wrong. Sweet Little Lies; a L.A. Candy Novel is the second book in Conrad’s L.A. Candy series. The third book in the series, Sugar and Spice: An L.A. Candy Novel, is scheduled to be released on October 5, 2010.
In Sweet Little Lies, Jane Roberts fit the bill of the average girl next door until she and her best friend, Scarlett Harp, lucked out by being cast for their own reality show: L.A. Candy. The girls basically have all the hookups to Hollywood’s newest, hottest everything, but they soon find that there is a whole lot more to their lives while on camera than what they expected. Drama of all kinds wraps itself into their lives, and shopping is a thing of the past.
When some not-so-G-rated photos of Jane make their way to the press, Jane finds herself in hot water. She turns to another one of the girls, Madison Parker, for help, hoping Madison can somehow help her, but she’s wrong.
Scarlett, now, is scheming up a scandal of her own. She’s fallen for someone who’s strictly off-limits—which means Scarlett has a big secret to keep from the L.A. Candy cameras, the paparazzi staking out her apartment, and even her best friend.
Of course, nothing stays secret for long for the stars of the newest hit TV series, and all this drama couldn’t be better for ratings. But can Jane survive another season in the spotlight?
This book is definitely for the drama driven teen. It may show drama lovers what happens when your friends backstab you and what would happen if you did it to them. I enjoyed reading this book because it had many cliff-hangers that make you want to keep on reading. So if you’re all for the excitement and thrill of Hollywood, then this book may just be the one for you.
