No dream ever comes true without hard work and dedication. Jason Pierce, a recent graduate of Chancellor high school and the Auto Mechanics class at the Career and Technical Center, is now living his childhood dream.
After four years of hard work and oil changes, Pierce is now the head mechanic at a Toyota Dealership in Fredericksburg.
“It wasn’t an easy task, it took a lot of concentration and time to learn what I know” stated Pierce.
Pierce graduated in May 2009 with a full scholarship to a Mechanics school but turned it down to work at the Toyota Dealership.
“I just would like to give some advice to the current students enrolled in the Mr. Everheart’s auto mechanics class: Don’t ever doubt yourself or your ability to do what you want to do in your future.” said Pierce
Mr. Everheart, or as most people call him, “Mr. E”, is the auto mechanics teacher at the Career and Technical Center and has been teaching students the right techniques to work on cars for years.
Current Spotsy students John Looney and Brandon McCormick said, “I love the experience and training we are getting through the Career and Technical Center and with Mr. E. He’s an awesome teacher and does 90% of the work hands on, which helps us understand.”
Dreams really can come true if you put effort into them and believe in yourself. Brandon McCormick laughed as he said, “I hope one day to be a mechanic and have everybody come to me for their car problems.”
Consider this class if you are dedicated, hardworking, and enjoy hands-on experiences.
