The Teacher of the Month for this March was Mrs. Dale Floyd, a ten year veteran in education and a Science teacher here at Spotsylvania High School.

Mrs. Floyd was quite humble in her acceptance of the award saying, “I’m not sure [why she was selected]. I’m very humbled by the award because I am surrounded by wonderful colleagues who all deserve the title.”

One of Mrs. Floyd’s most remarkable traits as a teacher is her love for her students. When asked about her favorite aspect of teaching  Mrs. Floyd said, “I love seeing the lightbulb go on  when I see them get a concept.”

Science is Mrs. Floyd’s subject of choice because she enjoys the challenge of attempting to keep up with the constant advancements being made in the field.

In addition to her duties as a teacher, Mrs. Floyd is also the assistant coach of the track team, dedicating even more of her time to better the students here at Spotsylvania High School.

What is it about teaching that keeps Mrs. Floyd in the profession? She replied, “There is no monotony in teaching so every day is memorable in some way.” Mrs. Floyd is a valuable asset to Spotsy High’s staff and hopefully many more students will be fortunate enough to learn from her.
