Most kids tend to slack off toward the end of the year. This is not a good thing because some teachers keep the same amount of work load through the whole year. This is the time of the year that could hurt your yearend averages or GPA (grade point average). Most kids say it’s the end of the year so “I don’t have to do anything.” The majority of kids don’t care about the last quarter- they just want it to be over.
The main reason kids are slacking off is because it’s so close to summer. If teachers would try to make things more fun or interesting to learn it wouldn’t be that bad. Also if they planned more hands on activities it would help. If you made class more fun the kids would pay more attention.
Kids could also help in this process. They could try to stay focused. They could stop thinking about what they are doing this weekend and focus more on the class. Another way for kids to stay more focused is to ask more questions about the topic. Get more involved in the conversation. Still another way is to get involved in a spring sport. In order to play sports your grades have to be up so that might make you more motivated to pay attention.
The third way that you can make yourself more focused is make a goal to reach before the end of the nine weeks. For example if you haven’t had an A in that class all year make that goal for the last nine weeks. You can use this goal for any nine weeks really. Also make it your goal to maybe not sleep in any of your classes. So maybe get more sleep at night.
The fourth way for you to stay more focused is to maybe ask someone to tell you when you’re getting sidetracked. Maybe ask a teacher or a friend. If you are reminded when you are slacking off it will make you notice how and when you start to.
The final way to stay more focused is to always do your homework early. Don’t wait till the last minute and try to do it all in a matter of like fifteen minutes. Try to start either when you get home from school or from practice if you play a sport. Try to get it done early so you’re not falling asleep doing your homework.
In conclusion, just try to stay on top of your game. Get things done early so you can do what you want to do later. If you stay focused and use these goals then you can raise your GPA , if you slack off the opposite might very well occur.
