Wrestling offers an alternative to fighting

Fighting, we all know, is definitely not the answer to any problem. Many teens these days don’t know how to control their anger, so they revert to violence. So many people hold all their anger inside, and when someone pushes the wrong button they are ready to explode. One good way teens could be sort-of violent without severely hurting someone or getting hurt is to wrestle.
When teens get mad, they want to just start swinging until they can’t hit any more. It’s not really because the other kid deserves it; it’s because they don’t know how to calm down and control themselves. Sometimes when kids fight it gets taken to the extreme where someone gets seriously hurt. I believe that open mat wrestling would be a fair way to get your problems solved without fighting.
A Spotsylvania High School student recently commented on the idea of wrestling instead of fighting. “In my opinion, I think it would be a good idea. We could just lay it all out on the mat and get all our anger out towards they person we have issues within a fair way,” he said.
The wrestling matches could be held during flex in the gym. Students could get a schedule and sign up for specific times for their match. They could let the other person know when and where to go and get it all out on the mat. There would be referees to make sure that the match was fair and that there wasn’t any moves that were not allowed. The referees would also help to make sure the match didn’t get out of hand or to rough.
There would be rules to being able to do this. It would have to be a safe, fair match. No moves that are not illegal or harmful would be allowed. Also, if the match was getting to out of hand the referee would have full liability to stop it and call it a day.
Wrestling could be a great way to stop all the fights going on in school because there are too many kids getting suspended and expelled for fighting, which affects the students learning opportunities. Everywhere you turn, there are people fighting; it’s really immature and starting to get out of hand. Plus it’s really annoying because its effect the rest of the students here at school as well.
This would be taken as a last resort. If kids couldn’t work there problems out by talking it out, they would have this option next instead of fighting. Some people may have there reservations and doubts about it at first, so there could be a trial period to see if the students could handle it. If it didn’t work out, we could just get rid of it.
Overall this would be a good thing to try out to stop all the fighting going on in school.
