Drake’s new album “Take Care” is one of his greatest albums yet. He uses catchy beats and the lyrics definitely have meaning. The album has plenty of Drake’s stylistic value accompanied by other artists like: Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Rhianna.

1. “Over My Dead Body”- This song’s slow beat shows Drake’s sensitive side. The lyrics were really well put together; they express his feelings towards his accomplishments. It was a great way to start his album.

2. “Shot For Me”- This is not one of his best songs. The beat doesn’t really drop until a minute and thirty seconds but his lyrics are honest and focus on his past relationships.

3. “Headlines”- This is one of the best songs on the album because it has a great beat and it’s most definitely catchy. In this song he shows that he’s proud of his accomplishments. This is a really positive attitude that some mistake for cockiness, but he’s just being real.

4. “Crew Love” featuring The Weekend- This beat is very unique and compelling but lacks Drake’s presence in some places.

5. “Take Care” featuring Rhianna- This song has a good beat for dancing. This was a very good collaboration that made the song a wonderful success.

6. “Marvin’s Room”- Marvin’s room shows a lot of emotion from Drake, it’s always nice to see his sensitive side. It also has a catchy beat which makes it hard not hit keep hitting the replay button.

7. “Under Ground Kings”-This is another one of the greatest songs because it has a faster pace, which makes a great dancing song.

8. “We’ll be Fine”- Drake talks about all of his accomplishments and how he is proud of himself. This is another great song on the album.

9. “Make Me Proud” featuring Nicki Minaj- This song is really sweet. He raps about how proud he is of Nicki Minaj for making her dreams come true. Nicki Minaj’s lyrics are always on point and make you want to keep listening to her unique style of rapping.

10. “Lord Knows” featuring Rick Ross- This song is also another honest outlook on his past relationships and how girls hurt him. I’m not really a Rick Ross fan, but he really completes this single. He brings a lot of emotion about his career to the song.

11. “Cameras”- The start to this song isn’t as interesting as it should be to pull a person’s attention, but as the song goes on it gradually gets better. The beat ends up catching your attention and the lyrics are yet again describing relationships and how he will always be him and no one else.

12. “Doing It Wrong”- Drake sings all of this song and that’s okay because he is both a great rapper and talented singer, but it’s not one of the most interesting tracks on the album.

13. “The Real Her” featuring Lil Wayne- This song is slow, but is one of the greatest because he shows his true feelings about the girl he is rapping about. Lil Wayne’s rap is a great finish to the song. He adds his sensitive, but honest look on relationships.

14. “HYFR” featuring Lil Wayne- This song also has a catchy beat. Lil Wayne and Drake Go In on this single. Drake starts out laid back and calm and ends his verse with some of the best lyrics of all time. It’s one of the best on the track.

15. “Look What You’ve Done”- This song really gets you in your feelings. He talks about how his family (everyone except his father) made him who he is today and you can tell that this is real. This all comes from his heart.

16. “Practice”- This song is addicting. You can’t help but listen to it all day and it never gets old. Every time I listen to it I can’t help getting up and dancing.

17. “The Ride”- This song starts off strong and ends off strong. It was a great way to end the album. He really lets loose on this single, telling about how no one “feels him” and maybe they never will.

This is a great album and I recommend purchasing it immediately. It’s unique in its emotional value, but stays true to Drake’s renowned style. You will not regret your purchase.

Season one of The Walking Dead premiered over a year ago in October and has now invaded AMC yet again for a more invigorating season than ever. The series depicts protagonist Rick Grimes and his struggle to help his family and other survivors to make it through the after math of a zombie plague.

In season one, Deputy Rick Grimes was separated from his wife and son because of the zombie outbreak but was able to reconnect with them in Atlanta. The season was about getting rid of the weak and becoming strong as a whole to stay alive during this horrifying time.

As the second season returned on October 16, Rick and his following survivors have been trying to establish a place to live. Once one of the survivors lost their daughter, Sophia, an ongoing search has been taking them on an epic and dangerous journey through the zombie filled nation.

As they thought things couldn’t get any worse, Rick’s son, Carl, was shot in the chest and sent to a veterinarian nearby known by own of the traveling survivors. It turned out that because Carl was so badly injured by the wound, he would need a blood transfusion that could only be taken out of his father. The veterinarian, Hershel had no problem carrying out the transfusion, but was short on supplies. Once Carl’s transfusion was finished, he became stable but needed to stay near Hershel to make sure he was recovering well. This became an excuse for the survivors to begin living on Hershel’s farmland, which he does not agree with.

The survivors have been starting to take higher precautions now that people are dying quicker and quicker with every day. The search for Sophia almost cost a few men of the camp their lives because of their carelessness. Rick and his partner Shane have begun teaching others in the group how to use a gun for protection including the women and only child, Carl.

As an avid watcher of The Walking Dead, I can’t help but think of why this wasn’t done sooner. It’s obvious that Hershel doesn’t want the surviving members interfering with his family’s life, using his shower and eating his food, but is he really that selfish to deny these people the right to live?

The characters in the series portray the attitude of the situations perfectly and always keep you guessing, which is what is entertaining the most. The series definitely will keep you waiting for next week’s episode and will never let you walk away from your TV even during a commercial.

First off, Surviving Antarctica: Reality TV 2083 is a good science fiction book that talks about the story of the benefits of teamwork and how, together as a team, you can survive one of the harshest climates on Earth – specifically Antarctica.

I found this book at the Spotsylvania High School library during Mr. Holt’s English class. We were told we had to get a book for independent reading. On one of the tables I was sitting at, I saw the book just lying there, and I picked it out based on the title and cover.

The front cover shows a couple of young explorers in a single file line crossing a glacier near the South Pole. They have ropes tied to their waist and in the distance there appears to be crevasses. It’s a very interesting cover and is appealing. The back on the book has a quote from H.R “Birdie” Powers, one of the members from the first expedition to reach the South Pole.

The writing of this book is very creative. The author uses sensory details to describe the Antarctic landscape. Andrea White, the author of the book, also used figurative language to describe the kids’ thoughts throughout the journey and powerful adjectives.

The setting of this book is in the near future (as hinted by the title). Earth at this point is in a global depression and people are just crazy about television. People sometimes live in Hoovervilles (shacks). Public schools were shut down because of budget problems and students now have to learn from the television through tests. One of the main characters kept failing the tests and if they didn’t pass, his parents had to teach him.

Once in a while, the network often gives out sponsored scholarships to pay for education. One of the scholarships allows contestants to participate in a game-show similar to Survivor, but deadlier. Students sometimes die in these games and they get no help from the outside world whatsoever. The games can vary from Wild West to surviving the sinking of the RMS Titanic.

Even worse, the game is rigged by the Secretary of Entertainment, who uses it as a way to earn more viewers. These cause disasters for the team from blizzards to frostbite. It also causes problems with supplies and their animals. But there is something more interesting.

One of the members of the group is actually a relative of the original expedition to the Antarctic. He shows the same bravery as his ancestor and even says some of his famous quotes like on the back of the book.

I really liked the liked the book and I would recommend the book to anyone that likes adventure. I would also recommend it to anyone that likes Antarctica or any other harsh environment.

Contagion is a movie about a disease that spreads all over the world and everyone is getting it. The movie starred many great actors, but it wasn’t very suspenseful and didn’t grab my attention.
An international team of doctors tried to make a vaccine to keep the disease from spreading. The disease spread just by touching a sickly person. Once you had the disease, you didn’t have much longer to live. It wasn’t just in America; it was all over the world.
The movie starred Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet.
In previews, they called Contagion “a thriller” and suspenseful movie. I was excited to see it because I enjoy intense thrillers. By the end, I was almost asleep; it was more of a sci-fi than a thriller. I was waiting for the climax of the movie, and I found myself waiting and waiting. It seemed like it started off slow and just never took off.
Although it wasn’t very attention-grabbing, the movie did have great effects. It looked real when people were dying, having seizures, or very sick.
The idea of the movie was excellent, but it could have been put together better. It all fit together in the end, but there wasn’t any action or intensity leading up to it.
Out of all of it, the ending was definitely the best part. The rest of the audience in the theatre didn’t seem too entertained with the movie either. I knew what was going to happen most of the time, it was a little predictable.
They followed one main family and random people from all over the world. The spreading happened quickly, but you always knew what was going on. The actors did well, and played their characters with great emotions. They all showed their fear for getting their disease, and the frustration with the vaccinations.
I was really excited and couldn’t wait to see Contagion when I first heard of it. It was not what I had expected. I would not suggest seeing Contagion due to its action-less plot.

Considering how well the first Paranormal Activity did, a sequel was inevitable. A good sequel on the other hand was slightly less inevitable. Horror movie fans will be pleased to hear that Paranormal Activity 2, released just in time for Halloween, has more than enough scares to last you for multiple Halloweens.

Set days before the first Paranormal Activity, PA2 shows the events leading up to the start of PA1 along with the events set directly after it. PA2 does a good job of explaining why exactly the characters of PA1 were being haunted and an even better job at scaring you senseless and making sure you don’t sleep easy for quite awhile.

The story follows the family that was haunted before Katie and Micah. Their newborn child plays a huge role in the story of both Paranormal Activity films. After the family is apparently robbed, they decide to install cameras all over their house, which gives every angle and every detail of terrifying ghostly activity. There are still manual “shaky-camera” scenes, but the majority of the film is shot by the stationary cameras. This is a nice touch and gives some diversity to the scenes unlike PA1, where every ghostly event happened in the same room.

As mentioned earlier, PA2 is also a lot scarier than its predecessor. While PA1 was very creepy, and had a few moments that made me jump, PA2 expanded on that and had me and the rest of the audience on edge throughout the entire film.

While most fans of the original might have been skeptical of a sequel/prequel, the movie turned out to be better than the original in almost every way. If you liked the first one, or even if you didn’t, this movie is definitely worth your money and the loss of sleep occurring from it.

The twelfth romance novel by Nicholas Sparks, Dear John tells a story of two average people coincidentally falling in love despite the troubles that distance, family, and war bring. Like most Sparks’ novels, the book takes place in North Carolina and has a typical love plot. However, the time line of events that happen around 9/11 make this book unique and personal to some readers.

John, an Army sergeant on leave, meets and quickly falls for a sheltered, unique girl, Savannah. From there they learn about and accept each other no matter what their pasts hold.

The plot of the love story is typical Sparks style, but it had appealing twists: John’s dad behaves abnormally; Savannah’s relationship with her best friend wavers throughout the plot, and the tragedy of September 11, 2001, results in war.

Many readers can relate to the book because of the 9/11 reference, the relationship between John and Savannah, the problems with John’s father, and the “dear john” letter Savannah eventually sends him.

Personally, I enjoyed reading this book because I liked the format of it. It starts off with John narrating it and describing how he watches Savannah from afar. From there, the novel is described by him as he reflects back on the whole situation, and the novel concludes as he continues to watch her from afar. It also includes letters the two characters share while John is away with the war, which helps explain the true feelings and thoughts both of them have while they are apart. It is a good insert to keep the reader informed.

I would recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a well-written, romantic story. Some might title it as predictable, but it is still sweet all the same. To purchase the book, it can be found at most book stores, as well as Target and Wal-Mart ranging from seven to ten dollars.

Brooklyn’s finest is about three different cops that take different career paths and are involved in a huge drug bust.

Richard Gere plays Officer Eddie Dugan, a veteran cop, who is days from retiring. Don Cheadle plays Detective Clarence “Tango” Buttler who is undercover and trying to keep his cover. Ethan Hawke plays Detective Salvatore “Sal” Procida who is struggling to support his large family. Wesley Snipes plays Caz. He is Tango’s prison buddy and one of Brooklyn’s most infamous drug dealers. Jesse Williams plays a rookie Officer Eddie Quinlan. Will Patton plays Bill Hobarts, the lieutenant watching over Tango’s undercover work. Brian F. O’Byrne plays Officer Ronny Rosario, a member of Sal’s narcotics team. Micheal Kenneth Williams plays a member of Caz’s entourage.

This movie takes place in a rough section of Brooklyn. The focuses on how the cops use different gangs and big money drug dealers to take another gang down as well as how different generations of cops catch criminals.

Richard Gere’s character Eddie Dugan is a week from retiring from the force. After twenty- two years in the force he is a drunk and the only friend he has is a prostitute. Tango has been trying to get a promotion for a while and final gets the chance, but to do so he must betray his long time friend Caz. Sal is trying to provide for his growing family and putting a down payment on a house while also keeping his family safe.

I think that acting was just right. All of the actors seemed to play their parts just right. The acting was mediocre. It wasn’t terrible but it also wasn’t spectacular. I give this movie three stars. It wasn’t terrible but the movie didn’t blow my mind. I thought that it was going to be better.

The new Alice in Wonderland Movie 3D that came out to theatres on March 5, 2010, was the largest opening for the month of March. The movie grossed about $116.3 million on its opening weekend.

This new film tells a story of a 19-year-old girl named Alice who returns to the magical world of “Underland” from her childhood adventure. She reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny, which is to end the Red Queen’s reign of terror. Alice is the only one who can slay the horrible Jabberwocky dragon so that the White Queen can have her crown and rightful place again.

This twisted new Tim Burton movie is different from all the others. This movie features actors such as Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter, some of whom have played in many Tim Burton films. Tim Burton, who had directed strange and quirky films such as Edward Scissor hands (starring Johnny Depp) and Beetle Juice, wanted this new movie to seem like a story instead of a series of events.

The timing of the movie was great, and I could definitely follow what was happening. At first, when the commercials came out, I thought that it would be just another flop movie, but I was interested to see if I was wrong or right. I changed my mind when I saw the film. I really liked the movie and the graphics that were in it.

All the scenes were really bright and colorful. Alice’s journey is remarkable. Alice is a girl taking on the job of slaying the Jabberwocky dragon.

Burton’s movies are almost always about something dark but creative, and his totally different portrayal of Alice is absolutely remarkable. Burton is indeed branching out but still staying true to his way of directing. I’d have to give it 4 out of 8 stars.

It always seems that if a book starts out as a book it should never become a movie. This is defiantly the case for the book Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohan and David Levithan. I’m glad that I didn’t read the book before I saw the movie because if I had then the movie would have been very disappointing.

This book is hilarious and is always keeps you guessing. Nick is a sweet guy and is depicted as a major nerd in the movie, but in the book he seems more like a hunk. Norah is a little confused about what to do with her life, but that really adds to her charm. All the characters are well rounded, and you get just enough information to leave you wanting more up until the very end.

This book is really all about forgetting about the past and living for the present. Life is too short to be wasted on being cautious. You shouldn’t live your life for other people, especially the people who have hurt you. This book is a great motivator for anyone who has ever suffered through a hurtful break up. There is always someone else out there, you just need to be willing to go out there and find them.

Young Percy Jackson isn’t just your average teenager. Actually, he’s a demigod. He is the son of Poseidon, one of the big three god brothers. Percy’s in trouble because Zeus, the all mighty Olympian king, is convinced that Percy stole his lightning bolt and is indeed the Lightening Thief.

Percy, along with Athena’s daughter Annabeth and his protector Grover, travel across the United States to prove that he isn’t the Lightening Thief. He also has to save his mother, who is trapped in the Underworld.

This movie was shot beautifully and the effects were amazing. As a fan of Chris Columbus since the first two Harry Potter films, it was exciting to learn that he was directing another big book series. Columbus has a way of making everything look real, he’s a director that knows what he wants and, although the screenplay writer didn’t keep true to the book series, he tries to give the audience what they want or are expecting.

Having never read the actual book series, it’s hard to tell if the actors picked are exactly what fans of the series expected. Logan Lerman, who plays Percy, was in the movie Hoot where he played a shy young boy who isn’t too popular. It’s nice to see him in a role where he’s in control and shows everyone that he can do some stunts on his own. He even insisted that he do his stunts himself. Another big star in the movie is Pierce Brosnan, who plays Percy’s school teacher Mr. Brunner and Chiron. Brosnan’s character is comic relief in the story, but it’s also comical to see Bronsnan as a centaur – half human and half horse, with a scraggly beard and long curly hair. Other well-known actors in this movie include: Rosario Dawson, Kevin McKidd, Steve Coogan, Sean Bean, and Uma Thurman.

On a scale of 0-10, Lightening Thief earns a solid 8. This movie is great for tweens and teens. Kids may see it, but they might be afraid of some of the darker scenes into the underworld and of Medusa. Another audience that might enjoy this film more would be those who have studied or are studying mythology. Granted, some facts aren’t necessarily correct, but it’s still interesting to see others’ takes on ancient Greece.
