While traditions calls for expressing your love on February 14 by showering your loved one with gifts, it can be extremely difficult to know what to get. Shopping for the perfect gift for your man can be stressful and time consuming. And forget about the typical candy and flowers – they won’t cut it for a guy.
Spotsylvania High School students have some advice for those struggling with what to buy their guy: Don’t make it too complicated. How? Just be creative, be unique, be yourself. If it comes from the heart, the gift will be fantastic.
“If I had a boyfriend, I would make his Valentine’s Day present really unique. I would make him a personal scrapbook of special memories we had together and things to do with our relationship,” said Makcyla Foster.
If you don’t have a boyfriend but a really close guy friend you would like to get a present for, this might help.
“My best friend and I are really close, but were not dating. We celebrate Valentine’s Day kind of as a joke, so we just write each other silly little notes about it,” said Kourtney Ferguson.
If funds are not an issue, you can go with a store bought Valentine’s gift. Courtney Yau suggested, “For my boyfriend I would just simply get him cologne.”
Coming from a guy’s perspective, John Merryman stated that he would just want a special gift from his girlfriend.
James Anderson said, “I just want an affectionate card showing how much she truly cares about me, nothing to special. I want the day to be absolutely perfect for my girlfriend.”
For a more interesting gift idea for your Valentine mister, Santana Marcelle said, “My boyfriend and I certainly love music, so what I would do is make a CD with his favorite songs on it, our songs we have together and I might also write him a song myself and put it on the CD.”
“I personally like to make things and make things special and creative, so I would make a puzzle that would hide a secret message or something for my boyfriend. He would have to put the puzzle together and figure out the meaning.” said Olivia Jarrell.
The theme here seems to be that if the gift is from the heart and special, it will be fabulous.
